Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson just dropped a bombshell that’s got the left’s hypocrisy on full display.
This is the kind of thing that makes your blood boil if you believe in fairness, merit, or, you know, the rule of law.
Johnson stood in front of a church congregation and proudly admitted he’s stacking Chicago’s city payroll with black employees—not because they’re the best for the job, but because of their skin color.
Speaking at the Apostolic Church of God in Woodlawn on Sunday, Johnson defended his practice of prioritizing black hires for city positions.
"Some detractors say, 'The only thing the mayor talks about is the hiring of black people.' No, what I’m saying is when you hire our people, we always look out for everybody else," the Democrat lawmaker told the predominantly black congregation.
Johnson claimed black Americans are “the most generous people on the planet,” citing cultural practices like "play cousins" to justify his hiring decisions.

The Chicago mayor then listed black appointees, including deputy mayors for business and economic development, planning, infrastructure, and his chief operations officer and budget director, saying these hires ensure "our people get a chance to grow their business."
Johnson’s approval rating, already at a dismal 6.6% in a February 2025 poll, faces further scrutiny as Chicago grapples with crime, budget woes, and his polarizing leadership.
But his remarks triggered swift backlash from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division General Harmeet Dhillon announced Monday evening an investigation into Johnson’s hiring practices, citing "reasonable cause" to believe he violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by making hiring decisions based solely on race.

Racial discrimination in hiring is against federal law.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employers, including public sector entities like the City of Chicago, from discriminating in hiring, promotion, or other employment practices based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
Johnson’s public statements about prioritizing black hires could constitute a "pattern or practice" of discrimination, as alleged by the DOJ, violating Title VII’s mandate for equal opportunity.
Penalties could include lawsuits, injunctions, or loss of federal funding. Chicago receives about $3.5 billion annually in federal grants, which are now at risk.
Additionally, the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment could apply if the city’s hiring practices are found to systematically favor one racial group over others, potentially opening Johnson to further legal challenges.

Johnson’s May 18 remarks aren’t his first brush with racially charged rhetoric.
In October 2023, he urged Chicago’s Racial Equity Office to reduce parking tickets for black residents, claiming urgency in enforcement reflects "white supremacist" tendencies.

This move drew criticism for undermining equal application of the law.
Johnson defends the city's decision to permanently remove two Christopher Columbus statues from Chicago's parks, arguing it reflects "our collective humanity."
"Art and culture, in particular, is something that I don’t believe we should erase. We do have to make sure that our presentation is depicting not just truth, but the best part of our existence.”
In March, Johnson likened his critics to defenders of slavery during a budget dispute, saying, "The so-called fiscally responsible stewards are making the same argument when our people wanted to be liberated and emancipated in this country."
This inflammatory rhetoric drew accusations of race-baiting to deflect from his administration’s fiscal mismanagement
The Democrat Party’s obsession with identity politics—dividing people by race, gender, or other markers—isn’t just a campaign tactic; it’s the foundation for pushing socialism.
Democrats have long leaned on identity politics, framing themselves as champions of marginalized groups while casting opponents as oppressors.

Johnson’s rhetoric—tying black hiring to cultural "generosity" or equating criticism with slavery—fits this mold, prioritizing group identity over individual merit.
This strategy divides voters by race, class, or gender, rallying coalitions around perceived grievances rather than universal principles.
This class-warfare-by-race strategy mirrors socialist principles: dismantle meritocracy, erode individual responsibility, and centralize power under the guise of “equity.”
The Democrat Party’s history is steeped in racism, yet it maintains strong black voter support.
Founded in 1828, Democrats were the party of slavery, forming the Ku Klux Klan in 1865 as a violent arm to suppress black and Republican voters during Reconstruction.

Democrats instituted Jim Crow laws from the 1870s to the 1960s, enforcing segregation and disenfranchising black Americans, particularly in the South.
The 1964 Civil Rights Act, often credited to Democrats, passed with stronger Republican support, 80% of Republicans vs. 63% of Democrats in Congress.
Despite the historical facts, Democrats have secured strong black voter support in modern elections. In the 2020 presidential election, 94% of black voters backed Joe Biden, per Pew Research. In Chicago’s 2023 mayoral runoff, Brandon Johnson won 88% of black voters, though turnout was low at 29%, compared to 61% for white voters.
How do Democrats pull this off? They exploit the entertainment industry and mainstream media to deflect their racist past onto Republicans.
Hollywood and music icons amplify Democrat talking points, framing the GOP as the party of bigotry while ignoring the KKK’s Democratic roots or Jim Crow’s origins.
Media outlets like CNN and The New York Times push narratives that Republicans are inherently racist, glossing over Democrats’ historical sins.
Johnson’s own rhetoric—calling out “white wealth” during his campaign—echoes this tactic, painting conservatives as oppressors while sidestepping his party’s legacy.
As Johnson touts reduced parking tickets for black residents or reparations task forces, Chicago’s crime rates remain a flashpoint. Overall crime, including robberies and assaults, remains high, with 28,196 total crimes reported in 2024.
Imagine a white mayor saying, "I only hire white folks because they’re the most generous race." They’d be run out of town, tarred, feathered, and slapped with a lawsuit before lunch.
But this is the Democrat machine at work—race-baiting, divisive identity politics that’d make Karl Marx blush.
