Adam Christian Johnson, now infamously dubbed “Lectern Guy,” is breaking his silence. On the Almost Serious talk show, he explains what really happened on January 6, 2021 from a perspective the mainstream media continues to ignore.
Despite the thousands of protesters, Johnson received the spotlight and quickly went viral for carrying Speaker Pelosi’s lectern during the Capitol protest. The first thing he tells is how misunderstood the crowd’s motives were,
I think a lot of people want to center it around the election and the questions that we had about the election … but it really is a lot more than that. It was about COVID lockdowns and restrictions. It was about Anthony Fauci and the NIH and this designer virus that somehow came out of a lab … we had questions about everything.
The J6ers wanted answers about COVID-19 policies, the economy, national security entanglements, and democratic integrity. But instead of being heard, they were all vilified.
Johnson recounts how disturbing the immediate retaliation to protest was, saying he was in “isolation for four days. They didn't allow me to call my wife or my attorneys while I was in isolation, which is a violation of my rights.”
Johnson even shares with us shocking details of the long-term aftermath. He recounts how the Department of Justice was the first to ostracize the J6ers.
"The charge I pleaded to was trespassing, misdemeanor trespassing, and for that, they sent me to federal prison for 75 days. They gave me a $5,000 fine. They gave me 200 hours of community service and a year of supervised release with random drug tests, even though it's not a drug crime."
As if that were not enough, the DOJ barred him from crowdfunding for the $100,000 attorney fees he had to 'pay out of pocket.' While Trump’s recent blanket pardons brought some symbolic justice, Johnson says he’ll never recover what he’s lost.
While this brutal retaliation from the DOJ could be expected, Johnson did not think that being shunned by the community would be part of the package.
"My wife's work was uh was threatened. The employees that worked there were threatened. They actually had to hire private security to protect the building that she works at. My kids' teachers were telling other students in the school that their father was a terrorist."
Despite the adversity, Johnson is determined to make the best of his reputation by insisting on telling the truth. He is set on pulling the wool away from Americans’ eyes.
