President Donald Trump announced a trade deal with the UK on Thursday. His plan was clearly—if succinctly—outlined in a Truth Social post. The winners: the American people... and needy Keir Starmer, the British PM whose approval ratings swing like a seesaw.

The rundown: America now has a trade deal with the United Kingdom that will lead to increased U.S. exports and tariff revenue. It involves reciprocal tariffs set at 10%, significant reductions in UK tariffs on U.S. goods, and increases in U.S. tariffs on UK goods. The deal will also give access to the UK market for many U.S. products and includes specific provisions for sectors like steel, aluminum, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, and airplane parts.
Lucky Keir: Why Starmer Was Saved by Trump
Trade data shows Britain relies far more on the U.S., and Starmer, once critical of Trump, now pleads for a deal to hide his lack of leadership.
The thing is, Keir Starmer is on the wrong side of history. The Labour Party (liberals) PM stepped up into his job right when the U.S. chose Trump, a strongman who pledged to get rid of DEI grifters and a woke agenda. Meanwhile, Elon Musk also accused him of covering up a grooming scandal that impacted dozens of British kids.
Starmer was so in need of a wink from Trump that he shifted his liberal standing and started pitching himself as someone who could get the favorable treatment of the American president.
Today I've secured a deal with the US that boosts British businesses and saves thousands of British jobs.

I promised to protect British car makers and save our steel. This deal delivers on that promise.

This trade deal, probably put together by Trump's team to benefit American workers, is also a relief for the British PM. He's already claiming it's a "fantastic historic day," likely alluding that it's good for the British people. But what he really means is that it’s a personal victory. Without Trump’s help, he’d likely be ousted any day now.
If Starmer keeps his job as British PM, Americans will be able to say he was, indeed, “carried by Donald J. Trump."
