Ursula Haverbeck, a prominent German activist who was convicted for denying the Holocaust, passed away on Wednesday (Nov 20). She was 96.
Haverbeck lived through the rise and fall of Nazi Germany and has been outspoken in her criticism of Judaism, saying "I have never read such hate-filled expressions from any other people [...] all you have to do is read the Talmud."
Questioning the official accounts of World War II is a punishable offence in Germany, where Haverbeck lived. The German penal code strictly forbids the public denial of the Holocaust and the distribution of Nazi propaganda, whether in person or online. This ban encompasses actions like displaying swastikas, wearing SS uniforms, and expressing support for Adolf Hitler.
Mrs Haverbeck has been involved in legal battles since 2009 when she wrote a letter to the Central Council of Jews in Germany telling them they should not "interfere in German domestic affairs" as well as suggesting that the President of the council "return to her origin in Inner Asia." For this letter, Haverbeck was fined €2,700.
In 2016, after insisting the status of Auschwitz as a place of death was "not historically proven" and "only a belief" she was sentenced to 11 months in prison at the age of 87. In 2017, Haverbeck was jailed for 2 years and in 2020 she was given another 12-month sentence. This year, she was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
From ANTUNES on 𝕏: "Ursula’s words echo her defiance: “A slave who doesn’t realize he’s in chains will never seek freedom.” She also declared: “Prepare for the day of truth—it’s near and unstoppable.”
In a surprising turn of events, users took to 𝕏 to praise Ursula Haverbeck for her 'bravery' and 'unwavering defiance' against political censorship. Jake Shields wrote, "Her crime was saying the holocaust didn't happen the way Hollywood says it did [...] This is what Jewish Supremacy looks like." Sam Parker also voiced support for Ursula saying, "Ursula Haverbeck retired today, UNDEFEATED."
